Going local - Casestudy opens new office in Istanbul

At Casestudy, we are very proud of our fully vertical business model in the Far East. So when we spotted an opportunity to serve our customers with European garment production better, we faced a question. Could we maintain our standards with a new production division in Europe? To answer this, we had to find the best people and factories that would compliment our business model.
Over three years, we visited and inspected trim factories throughout Europe. And, after thorough research and strategic thinking, we decided that Istanbul was the place that would best serve both our needs and our clients’.

Istanbul is a natural progression for our business. We now have three factories there that are on par with our factories in China. Our new Istanbul office is the point of contact between our clients, sales teams and our factories in the region. Our team there have international garment and trims experience, excellent local knowledge, and are fluent in Turkish and English. And, to ensure quality and standards are kept high, our team monitor production in Istanbul daily.

By extending production into Istanbul, we have eliminated shipping costs from Hong Kong to Europe, saving European garment producers’ time and money. And with a foothold in Istanbul, Casestudy now has a strong presence in two of the world’s major production regions.

Working with trusted local factories means that our global team can continue to be responsible for trim development, from design right through to production. So while we now produce and operate in different production locations worldwide, we still take care of the entire process centralized.

Casestudy’s Director Europe Rogier van der Velde tells us about the move;

 “At Casestudy, we always work on improving our production processes and efficiency to achieve the best solutions for customers worldwide. So setting up a production division in Europe was the next logical step for us. We have seen how our competitors have tried and failed to do it properly, so before we took this step, years of investigation went into this project. Naturally, we have visited dozens of trim factories across Europe and have had to conclude that Istanbul is still a major production region in the world, next to the Far East, of course. Also, its knowledge of production and its logistics network into the EU is impressive.

Istanbul has been synonymous with trim production for years. However, we needed to find the right factories, with standards comparable to ours. Finding the best people to manage the production and run our office in Istanbul wasn’t easy. In the end, it’s all about people. So my main task was to find a smart group of people dedicated to growing our business further, which we were successfully able to do.

With this new set-up, Casestudy is growing to become a global company. With our offices in Amsterdam and Los Angeles, we are offering local service with account managers and designers who work closely with a customer to develop a trim package from scratch.

What will be our next step? Well, our foothold in Northern Europe and the West Coast of the US has been quite strong for years now. Our sales in Scandinavia, Southern Europe and the East Coast of the US are growing rapidly, so we’re working on opening new showrooms with local teams in those regions too. As always, it’s step-by-step and only with the right people!”
